The Scottish Bike Show sportives, organised by Pennine Events, has been hailed a success after drawing over 800 riders.

Two rides, a 65 and demanding 100 mile route were undertaken, with entrants to both gaining free entry to the main show. Nick Abbott, project manager at Pennine Events believes it was a great success: “The feedback has been very positive. The riders enjoyed the scenery and terrain and were pleased with the organisation we had put behind this event. We have taken many positives from the feedback and can fine-tune the other areas to make the 2013 event even better.”

The 100-mile Sportive ride passed through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, over the dramatic Dukes Pass, through Lochearnhead and along the shores of Loch Lomond and Loch Long, whilst the 65-mile Challenge passed through Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, over Dukes Pass and around Loch Katrine.

Pennine Events, who are best known for organising mass-participation sporting events such as The Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool Bike Ride and The British Heart Foundation Night Ride, have carried on from their achievements as they recently organised the annual Asthma UK Beach-to-Beach Bike Ride.

Managing director, Mark Sandamas, is happy how 2012 is fairing: “It’s been a busy couple of months for us and it’s only getting busier. We’ve already organised many events and challenges this year and it will continue at this pace throughout the year with plenty of other big and diverse ones such as the inaugural London to Brighton Night Ride and Great Manchester Cycle.”
