Shimano's consolidated financial results for January 1st-December 31st 2007 have been released and they show a 24.3 percent year-on-year rise in net sales, to $1.9bn (JPY 211bn), an all-time high. Profit also rose 24 percent, to $654m (JPY 73bn).

Projected sales for 2008 show that the company believes the sales rise will continue, but at a slower rate. Shimano forecasts a 13.2 rise in sales in the first half of 2008, with a full year projection of a 6.2 percent rise.

Shimano may make fishing tackle but it's still dominated by bike parts. 75 percent of its business ($1.4bn) is the manufacture of bicycle components, a rise of three percent year on year.
