So, did weatherman's predictions come true for summer 03?

Yep. Back in April, carried the 90-day weather forecast by the Met Office's Bill Giles. He predicted a long spell of good weather for the UK, and gave a week-by-week breakdown. Sadly, there will be no more heat waves this year but Giles predicts a fine end to October.

22 October to 31 October

"This will be a very interesting period of the month as high pressure starts to take hold, giving many places an 'Indian Summer'."

In April, carried a story entitled 'The weather Gods smile on UK bike trade', featuring the all-important 90-day forecast from the former BBC weatherman. BikeBiz urged IBDs to order key summer lines quickly because of the fine-weather-ahead predictions. Thankfully, Giles was right. But he's not a pine-cone watcher, he bases his predictions on computer modelling of future weather patterns and tracks all his predictions against reality in order to fine-tune his methodology.
