The UK operation has been set-up by two South African ex-pats, Steve Bowman and Greg Amoils, who will operate via Ambow Ltd.
Bowman was a member of the UK-based Orange MTB race team, 1989-91. He subsequently returned to South Africa, opening a bike shop, which he ran for seven years.
Amoils has a stockbroking background.
Both are in the UK thanks to the instability offered by a life in South African, including currency devaluation which makes running a business in South Africa a riskier than normal activity.
The Rav X range was created five years ago by South African brothers Deon and Anton Retief and is produced in the Far East. Trade terms are 100 percent mark-up, excluding VAT.
