The "Stop Killing Cyclists" campaign is organising a "die-in" next Wednesday in London to mark another road death involving the driver of an HGV and a cyclist.

The vigil will take place outside Islington Town Hall, on Wednesday 8th November from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The event is being staged to mark the killing of Jerome Roussel who was killed whilst cycling on Pentonville Road, Islington.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr Roussel, whose inquest is being held on the same day," said campaign co-founder Donnachadh McCarthy.

“Islington desperately needs a protected cycling network to allow its children, adults and pensioners to be able to cycle in the borough without fear of death," he added.

Fellow organiser Caspar Hughes said: "We welcome the London Mayor’s five-year plan for safer HGVs. However, he must urgently require all HGVs to have CCTV. No lethal trucks should be blindly driven on London’s streets. This carnage needs to end.”
