Scottish and Stoke on Trent sportives revealed by cycling event organiser

Sweetspot announces two 2013 tour rides

The Tour of Britain and Pearl Izumi Tour Series organisers, SweetSpot, has announced two mass participation Tour Ride events taking place this September.

The events will be on Sunday 1st September in Stoke-on-Trent and on Saturday 14th September in the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway with a choice of Pro (100 miles) and Challenge (50 miles) options for riders to choose from.

The Tour Ride Scotland will form part of a Grand Depart weekend with The Tour of Britain’s Stage One, from Peebles to Drumlanrig Castle on Sunday 15th September.

Individual registrations are already open via the British Cycling website, with a £5 discount for members. You can also register here.

As The Tour Ride Manager Rob Kennison explains, the routes have been designed to encourage amateur cyclists to take part and experience just a small taste of what the professionals, past and present, face during The Tour of Britain.

“The mix of Pro and Challenge rides ensures that riders of intermediate to advanced fitness can all enjoy The Tour Ride experience. With some big climbs such as the legendary Gun Hill at the Stoke-on-Trent event and with stunning scenery on offer at both, we are confident that the events will attract a very wide range of the cycling community.”

As well as the event details, SweetSpot has also announced an enhanced line up of sponsors for this year’s Tour Rides with Chain Reaction Cycles, Forme Coaching, Maxifuel, Soreen and Specialized all on board for the 2013 events.

SweetSpot has also confirmed that they are inviting bike shops and other companies within the UK cycle trade, as well as cycling groups and clubs to take part in the events. To enquire about participation, see here.
