Today is the first day of the Taipei Cycle Show, this year celebrating its 25th anniversary. The show was opened by Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou. The President is a cyclist.
Running until March 10th, the 2012 event has 1,089 exhibitors taking up 3,284 booths – an expansion of about 230 booths on the 2011 show. Nangang’s exhibition hall’s sixth floor and outdoor area have been opened up to cope with increasing demand for space.

And click to see a pic of Ernesto Colnago with his company’s C59 equipped with a Formula disc brake. The Italian company is the only road bike brand to have a disc-equipped road bike at the show. Colnago has released tech info on the new bike on its website.
Disc-equipped road bikes are not yet UCI-legal but disc brakes are more powerful and users of carbon wheels will now be able to – successfully – brake in the wet.
