The WFSGI, representing more than 70 bicycle brands and manufacturers, will be updating the trade and public on its progress in addressing online bike counterfeits at a Taipei Cycle Show-set conference.

The organisation will also elaborate on what it calls a "very exciting and progressive year" in collaboration with the UCI on developments with technical rules and regulations.

Yes, that does mean disc brakes.

The organisation said: "The great effort of the WFSGI Bicycle members in collaboration with the UCI in order to get Disc Brakes approved in Road racing used a lot of resources, but should soon lead to a result.

"Additionally the Wheel Committee worked out a new approval procedure for wheels which should replace the current tests at Sirris in Belgium."

The WFSGI has also set up a technical Committee regarding rules and regulations of saddles in road racing, again working with the UCI to modify the current regulations.

Last year the WFSGI began working with Italian company Convey on its WFSGI Bicycle Online Brand Abuse project and Convey's Michele Provera will update on that project in the public meeting.

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry open meeting will take place on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30 at Taipei Cycle Show, Nangang Exhibition hall, Room No. 404, 4th floor.
