Taiwan’s e-bike exports rise

Taiwan’s e-bike exports rose in volume and value during the first nine months of the year, Bike Europe reports.

Export volume increased by 48 per cent and reached nearly 200,000 units.

The value e-bike exports grew by 52 per cent to $269 million, with the average unit of an exported e-bike valued at $1,378.

According to Taiwan’s customs and the Ministry of Finance, Taiwan’s complete bike export reached 1.65 million units, which was valued at $1.09 billion, from January to September.

Export value rose 14.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2017 while the export volume fell by 6.9 per cent. 

The Taipei Cycle Show is currently taking place, running from 31st October to 3rd November, at the Nangang Exhibition Centre. 

TAITRA president and CEO Walter Yeh said that 2018 will prove to be a "critical" year for the global cycling industry, with the industry "transforming itself in line with digital trends in this era of smart technology".
