Take a ride down Memory Lane

Anquet Maps' new iPhone app can load historic maps as well as modern OS maps allowing cyclists to ride back in time
Publish date:

Virtual Programming's release of Anquet Maps for Mac and Anquet Maps iPhone applications now offer the same functionality as Anquet's mapping software for Windows.

Users can easily plan and edit routes, look up points-of-interest along the way, and more. GPS functionality in the iPhone version lets mobile users navigate routes while on the go, and using familiar OS maps.

As well as full UK coverage with 50,000 and 25,000 scale OS mapping, Anquet Maps' Mac programme and iPhone app can load historic OS mapping, allowing users to plot their actual position on top of correctly-scaled archive maps. This can show roads and features beneath - or obliterated by - modern infrastructure.

Anquet Maps for Mac is free software. Maps are purchased separately, available in definable parcels or as specific popular areas, such as national parks.

Maps and route profiles can be printed out and exported to Anquet Maps iPhone, which, at £19.99 is one the costlier mapping and navigation apps in the iTunes app store.

Like other mapping apps, Anquet Maps iPhone enables users to track their routes and save average speed, distance travelled, and other data, along with text notes.
