Despite being only months old, the new folding brand already has partners in Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Europe

Tern praises global support

Tern has praised the backing it has been shown in the few months since it was created.

The new folding brand is to be distributed by Evans Cycles in the UK, which will also supply the brand into IBDs.

Cyclemotion’s Mark Bickerton told BikeBiz: “I will be handling sales, marketing and after-sales for Tern in the UK.

“We will be very carefully selecting the UK IBDs we want to work with. They will have to fit into the Evans distribution network, but generally speaking we’d be delighted to work with a folding bike retailer that fits into the structure. I hope we can continue some of our long-term relationships with them.”

The UK distribution agreement is the latest part of new brand Tern’s growing global network, which includes deals to bring the bikes to retailers in Europe, the US and Canada.

“At the main stage at Eurobike, VP Josh Hon invited Tern’s customers, suppliers, staff and partners on stage.

“Seeing the 80 or 90 distributors and partners step up was hairs on the back of the neck stuff – the culmination of eight months work. It was great to have that level of support in such a short time.”

Meanwhile, from January 2012, Raleigh will bring Dahon to the UK cycle trade, carrying a pared down portfolio for the first year of ten bikes.

Dahon founder and CEO Dr. David Hon said: “Raleigh is one of the best-known names in the cycling industry and we are thrilled to have them on board with us. This is a great opportunity for our company as we continue to grow the brand in the UK.”
