Transport for London (TfL) is proposing more than 2km of safer cycle routing as part of an improvement scheme around Nine Elms Lane in central London.

The Mayor’s draft Transport Strategy aims to increase the proportion of people walking, cycling and taking public transport to 80 per cent of journeys by 2041 and TfL have put cycling at the heart of the regeneration of this former industrial area.

Consultation on the proposals ends on August 20th and, subject to final approvals, improvements could begin in 2020.

“We have ambitious plans to make walking and cycling safer and easier across London” said Will Norman, London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner. “As our city continues to grow, it is imperative that we continue to get more Londoners walking and cycling as part of their everyday lives”
