Halfords deal comes to natural end; Tour will return in May and June 2013

The Tour Series is looking for new partner

Cycle race series The Tour Series will be back for its fifth season of team-based racing next May, but the Series will have a brand new look, as title sponsors Halfords are to step down at the end of their three year contract.

The Tour Series will again take place in a five week window next May and June, beginning week commencing Monday May 13th with the final rounds due to take place during week commencing Monday June 10th.

“We would like to thank Halfords for their support in helping us to grow The Tour Series from a new event in 2009, to the key event Series on the domestic professional calendar in 2012,” said commercial director Alastair Grant, from Series organisers SweetSpot.

He added: “Plans for the 2013 Series are well advanced and we are now looking for new partners to come on board and share in this exciting time for cycling in the UK. The Tour Series offers a unique platform for brands to align themselves with Britain’s fastest growing sport and The Tour Series provides a unique, integrated event and TV broadcast sponsorship, which provides huge value and targeted exposure to its title partner."

The Series also plays host to the Johnson Health Tech Grand Prix Series, providing Britain’s top female cyclists the chance to compete on the same televised platform as their male colleagues in some of Britain’s biggest towns and cities.

Traditionally The Tour Series has welcomed Britain’s ten leading domestic teams to battle it out over ten town and city centre criterium races, with riders such as Olympians Ed Clancy, Andy Tennant and Steven Burke all expected to be amongst the riders aiming to help their team be crowned the best in Britain.

Past winners of the Series include Team Halfords Bikehut (2009), Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta (2010), Rapha Condor Sharp (2011) and Endura Racing (2012).

More details on the teams, venues and sponsors for the 2013 Tour Series will be announced in the New Year.
