New models are the latest from Smoothie Bike maker Alternative Bicycle Co

Thirsty cyclists rejoice: New Beer and Cocktail Bikes launched

Alternative Bike Company has expanded its range with the Beer Bike and Cocktail Bike.

The Beer Bike holds a full keg (88 pints) of beer and chills the beer while it is being served. The onboard freezer stays cold for around six hours and features a speed rack for quick serving.

Both are aimed at the beverage industry, but are available to the cycle trade direct too for race days, events, demo days and the like.

Alternative Bike Co have a number of unusual bikes in their portfolio, from the smoothie making Shakesta and penny farthing-esque Coinsta, to a coffee trike and BBC steadicam dolly trike.

The company was established in Manchester by Mike Ferguson in 2010. The firm has recently appointed James Cornford to handle its marketing activities.

Ferguson said: “We are really looking forward to working with James and cannot wait for him to use his extensive knowledge of cycling and the cycling industry to help push us forward. With James helping on the marketing side of the business, it’ll free up time for us to develop other interesting bikes like our pedal powered generator we’re currently making.”

Cornford added: “I was delighted when Alternative Bike Co approached me about handling their marketing, the ideas and ethics behind the brand are refreshing and their eclectic mix of highly alternative products will make this a challenging, but highly rewarding account."
