“The introduction of Miguel Indurain to this year’s event elevates the importance of this events two principal reasons for existing. One, we organise this event as a means to promote the sport of cycling, its healthy living aspect and its association with Cape Town. The second reason we manage this event is essentially to raise funds for charitable causes.’

The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation was set up to fund and promote the use of sport as a tool for social change. Its work focuses on helping young people overcome challenging social issues including poverty, homelessness, war, violence, drug abuse, discrimination and AIDS.
