He's featured on this week's Cycling Weekly clutching his gold, silver and bronze Olympic medals. He has been swept around the Tour of Britain on a sea of goodwill and on yesterday's final day of racing his (ultimately unsuccessful) breakaway was accompanied by wild cheering and loud hammering on advertising hoardings. Now the TV appearances are stacking up...

Tour of Britain: Bradley Wiggins feted in London

His status as one of British sport’s newest and biggest celebrities is confirmed by appearances on BBC1’s A Question of Sport, filmed tonight, and inclusion in the line-up for BBC’s Superstars programme, filmed in southern Spain later this month.

Superstars is the TV series that pits top athletes in events they don’t normally do, such as golf, tennis, swimming, gym tests, mountain biking, and kayaking. Naturally, the athletes cannot compete in the sports for which they are famous.

Earlier this year Chris Boardman nearly pulled off a famous victory in the event.

The event is staged at Hyatt Regency’s La Manga Club, a sports resort. The resort is promoting a stay at the resort for the duration of this year’s filming:

"If you enjoyed watching it on TV, imagine the excitement of seeing it live! This year’s events will take place between 11th and 18th September. Wouldn’t it be nice to say ‘I was there’? Call us on +34 968 17 5577 to check availability."

Credit Agricole rider Bradley Wiggins won gold in the individual pursuit, silver in the team pursuit and bronze in the Madison at the Athens Olympics, making him the most successful British athlete at one Olympics since Mary Rand did the treble 40 years ago.

His inclusion in the Tour of Britain led to mentions in TV news bulletins and he will no doubt be one of the key plugging points when the Tour is televised on BBC’s Grandstand next Sunday.
