Toyota has revealed the Lexus F Sport ‘road bike of the future’.
Built in the same workshops as the swanky Lexus LFA Supercar, by Toyota’s ‘Takumi’ (master engineers), the Lexus F Sport is specced with Shimano Dura Ace Di2, Panaracer Race A tyres, 3T handlebar and stem, Selle Italia SLR kit Carbonio saddle and FSA carbon headset.
The frame uses the same CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) as the LFA Supercar. The paintwork is polished to LFA standards, meaning the quality of the finish is ‘far superior to the normal industry standards’.
We’ve seen car manufacturers dabble in concepts for high end road bikes before – like this offering from Audi – however Toyoto said that the launch of the Lexus F Sport ‘sets the stage for a new chapter in Lexus’ history’.
More practically, this doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to lay your hands on one. According to the Lexus Enthusiast blog, not only does the F Sport cost USD $10,000 (around £6,600), but only 100 bicycles were built in total.
