Bike industry takes to the internet to salute the winners of the UK cycle trade prizes

Trade celebrates BikeBiz Award successes on Twitter

Following the second ever live BikeBiz Awards on Wednesday night the cycle industry has once again taken to the web to celebrate, congratulate and commiserate the winners and finalists who missed out.

Independent Retailer winner Rutland Cycling (@RutlandCycling) was quick to thank the (50) judges who voted: "We’re BikeBiz Award winners for Best Independent Retailer…… Thanks to all who voted for us. We are all very grateful"

Online Retailer winner Wiggle (@wigglebikeshop) was similarly grateful for the support: "Last night we were named ‘best online retailer’ at the BikeBiz awards! Thanks to all who support us!"

Madison’s Ellie Guttridge (@EllieGutts) said: "We aka @UKmadison won an award at the BikeBiz awards but I lost dismally at Black Jack in the casino after! Great night but feeling it now!"

Fellow winner Brompton’s Emerson Roberts (@EmersonRoberts) expressed similar sentiments: "The commute in this morning not good; celebrated winning Best Brand at #BikeBiz awards last night with too much alcohol. Too old for this."

It wasn’t just the winners heading to Twitter, with many from the web savvy industry adding their words of congratulations.

@Biketart_com: "Massive congratulations to @GreenOil for their BikeBiz award last night! Very well deserved!"

@TheTriShop: "Congratulations to tony, dave, elaine, oli and everyone else involved with @road.cc for their bikebiz award last night."

Prior to the show a nervous Hope (@Hopetech) said: "Up against SRAM and shimano at the Bikebiz awards. Should be interesting!"

But there were disappointed tweets from those that didn’t make it to the evening event, which took place at Sway Bar, Holborn.

Continental (@ContiTyres) tweeted: "Sitting at the bar in the hotel after a long day setting up for Cycle Show. Didn’t make the BikeBiz awards as we ran out of time :-("

Decade Bikes (@DecadeBikes) was similarly unlucky: "Can someone that’s going to the BikeBiz awards let me know if Greenoil or Lezyne win anything? We can’t get tickets. Bummer : ("

Fear not – there’s full coverage of the event in the November issue of BikeBiz.

In the meantime there’s a full list of winners of the 2010 BikeBiz Awards here.
