CEO will give a presentation at the US event's first ever Industry Breakfast

Trek boss John Burke to deliver keynote speech at Interbike

Trek Bicycle CEO John Burke will deliver the keynote address at Interbike’s inaugural Industry Breakfast.

The first year breakfast event will get started at 7:30am, with a full breakfast on offer to the first 400 people in attendance.

Burke’s keynote presentation is expected to tackle a plan to get the US bicycle business from $6B to $10B a year by 2020, and what the industry needs to do to make it happen. According to the show organisers, Burke plans to describe the key role that the industry — including retailers and suppliers – must play to create an effective movement linking bike businesses and consumers to shape a cycling-friendly future. This call-to-action presents the pathway to doubling the size of the US bike industry and dramatically increasing IBD sales, it added.

Presented by Bikes Belong and the NBDA, the breakfast will take place on the opening morning of the show. Interbike starts September 19th and runs until 21st, with the Outdoor Demo preceeding it on September 17th and 18th.

“We’re fortunate to have such a well-respected leader like John speak to the industry at Interbike,” said Pat Hus, Interbike MD.

“In 2002, John spoke at the NBDA-BPSA Joint Industry Education Conference on the building a stronger bicycle industry, and for those who were present – it was a powerful message. I am confident that his keynote will be of interest to all IBD’s – regardless of brand loyalty, and will be just as powerful. We hope this breakfast and John’s message will really set the tone for the show and for what we need to do as an industry to grow the business.”

Burke said: “I am honored to have this opportunity to speak at Interbike about such an important topic. This challenge is something we all need to wrap our arms around and understand clearly what all of us can do to create a bicycle-friendly America in our lifetime.”
