At a meeting of the UCI's management committee in Salzburg, it was agreed that the organisation would sign up to WADA's anti-doping rules.

Cycling was one of the last sports to sign up, an indication that the UCI's president Hein Verbruggen wasn't entirely convined that cycling would be treated equally with other sports, many of which are also dope-fuelled, but which do not come in for the same criticism as cycliong.

The new rules come into force on 13th of August, just in time for the Olympics.
