British Olympic and world champion track cyclist Victoria Pendleton has earned a place on Red magazine's most influential women in sport under 30 list.

Red magazine, 'the thinking woman's glossy', has selected stars from the worlds of sport, fashion, media, entertainment and other spheres as the most inspirational to future generations of female professionals.

Pendleton recently hit the headlines with the launch of the female-focused Cycletta Series.

Fellow sportswomen on the list include Keri-Ann Payne, winner of silver in the 10k marathon swim at the 2008 Olympics and bronze and the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and Christine Ohuruogu MBE, British Athlete of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

Victoria Pendleton MBE, dubbed 'the fast tracker’ by the mag, won her first World Championship six years ago in 2005 and was named the Sunday Times’ Sportswoman Of The Year in 2007. Dave Brailsford, British cycling performance director, said of the champ: "Vicky is a fantastic role model and an inspiration to the younger riders. She manages her on- and off-bike activities in an exemplary fashion."

Sam Baker, editor-in-chief of Red, enthused: “It’s great to see such impressive young British talent in our 20 Under 30 list from areas of entertainment, right through to business and sport. With Red’s Hot Women Awards now in its third year, we are looking forward to honouring the success of British women who are making such a difference to their chosen industries."

The list will appear in the April edition of Red.
