Vielo Sports to market Italy’s Sarto bikes

Vielo Sports of Gateshead has been appointed as the UK sales and markering parner for Sarto bikes of Italy. Antonio Sarto has been making bikes – mostly for other companies – since 1950. In 2010 his son Enrico started the Sarto brand (Sarto means “tailor” in Italian). The company still makes frames for other companies, including Condor of London.

Vielo Sports is run by another father and son company. Ian and Trevor Hughes were formerly the brand builders for Storck in the UK.

Each Sarto frame is designed and hand-built in Sarto’s factory near Venice. Sarto believes in an entirely traditional, manual process, that requires a total of thirty working hours for every frame (including paint).

“We have been looking for a suitable partner to help develop a program of sales, marketing and support in the UK through specialist independent bicycle dealers,” said Enrico Sarto.

“Ian and Trevor at Vielo Sports are a perfect fit for our brand and have outstanding knowledge and experience of the UK cycle trade and our high-end custom market sector.”

Vielo Sports will offer staff training and support to a small number of IBDs, explaining the full custom design process.

Ian Hughes said “The Sarto frames are beautifully designed and very stylish; they really are a work of art and just stunning.”

Sarto will be exhibiting at the Rouleur Classic in London in November.

The brand was formerly handled in the UK by Impact Cycle Trading.
