Ahead of the debut season of the Madison Genesis team, Volvo Cars UK has come on board as team sponsor and official car supplier.
As part of the deal, the Madison Genesis team will use the top-of-the-range Volvo XC70 as team support cars. The Madison Genesis team is officially launching at the London Bike Show on Saturday January 19th.
Madison said that the involvement of a brand of Volvo's calibre with the team 'reaffirms our commitment to creating a credible top-level road team'.
Madison Genesis Team manager Roger Hammond commented: "The race convoy can be quite a hostile environment, so I'm really excited to be driving an XC70 that has the performance to take these conditions in its stride whilst also having the capacity to transport the spares necessary to keep a professional cycling team on the move."
Selwyn Cooper, national corporate operations manager for Volvo Cars UK said: "Volvo is well known for its combination of performance and strength, making it the perfect partner for the Madison Genesis cycling team. Combining versatility and practicality with the prestige of a premium brand, the XC70 will be the ideal team support car. We look forward to playing our part in the team's future success."
Madison CEO Dominic Langan added: "It takes a lot to put together a road cycling team like the Madison Genesis team, especially when you are discerning about the brands with whom you associate. Beautiful functionality is a design ethos shared by both Volvo and Genesis bikes, confident to be different, attentive to detail and valuing craftsmanship. We are proud to have Volvo Cars UK as a partner and the XC70 to drive our team success in 2013."
