Set for a hard launch early in 2016, Wattbike has firmed up the details for its PowerApp and PowerHub cloud service.

Removing the need for the computer link up previously required, the app takes ride data and relays feedback to a cloud-based platform, thus accessible anywhere. Users will then be able to analyse in great detail every pedal stroke, either via their mobile, or the Wattbike's monitor (if fitted).

Central to the brand's 2016 plans is the creation of a service that will offer automatically generated training plans, ranging anything from a single session, through to a longer term detailed training map. An interesting new feature is something called Polarview, which allows the rider to compare the output of their right and left leg over the duration of a ride to see which is working harder and more efficiently.

"This puts us in a different place," says Wattbike marketing man Tom Crampton. "We now have better data than any other system on the market and that in turn will be used by riders to generate meaningful guidance automatically. During a session, the display will offer a simple red and green light guidance to keep riders within their target thresholds."

The app is IOS and Android downloadable now and links to the trainer by either Ant+ or Bluetooth. Garmin Connect compatibility is soon to be available. The App even allows social interaction whereby users can follow other Wattbike members.
