Watteam has announced that the next generation of the Powerbeat series, the G2, is ready for shipment.
The brand has stated that the technology-fuelled power meter marks the culmination of five years of intensive research, development and fine-tuning.
The new G2 and the corresponding app are designed to enhance any cycling journey by helping cyclists to improve their performance and fitness level, whilst enabling them to share their experiences with the greater community. The G2 will be available for online purchase as an add-on for self-installation or at official Watteam distributors.
The pro-level power meter takes independent left and right leg measurements including torque, balance and pedal smoothness data to ascertain optimal operation. The G2 unit, which weighs only 20 grams for each crank and is compatible with both ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart head units, can be installed on hollow aluminium cranks and is powered by a rechargeable green battery.
The G2 features many marked improvements on the previous unit, including the management of temperature compensation, the data for which is consistent even under extreme weather conditions.
The unit is currently available in the UK, the US, Europe and Canada, with Austrailia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa expected to receive stock in summer 2017.
