WaveCrest hires leccy bike guru

Ed Benjamin, a bicycle industry veteran and a noted authority on light electric vehicles, has been named vice president, light transport for WaveCrest Laboratories of the US.

WaveCrest develops electric propulsion systems that are featured in its TidalForce electric bicycles.

"Light electric vehicles will have a major impact on air quality and noise pollution, transportation needs, and quality of life for much of the world's population," said Benjamin said. "The industry is in its infancy - it will grow explosively."

Roy M. Barbee, president and CEO of WaveCrest Laboratories said:

"There is no one in the world who knows more about the marketplace for light electric vehicles than Ed Benjamin. He has made many contributions to the industry, and he understands it and its participants well."

Prior to joining WaveCrest, Benjamin was the founder and president off CycleElectric International Consulting Group.

Benjamin succeeds Chris Washburn and is based at WaveCrest's headquarters in Dulles, Va.
