Whyte joins 29er ranks with 829 launch

Aluminium build soon to be available via ATB with carbon to follow
Publish date:

Whyte has entered the market for 29-inch wheeled bikes with the launch of its aluminium 829, a model set to be followed with a carbon fibre counterpart.

Keith Jepson of Max Bikes PR, which represents ATB in the UK said: "The 829 is our 1st venture into large wheels. The bike has trail geometry and is complete with many UK-tailored features including rear adjustability, crud catcher mounts and plenty of mud clearance. We believe the bike offers all the larger wheel benefits of traction but without compromising on stability and handling. Specced with the new XT 3 x 10 groupset and Fox f100 RL evolution fork this is a bench mark XC package."

In the coming 2012 catalogue, three new cyclocross bikes will feature too - the Saxon Cross, Charing Cross and Kings Cross.

The latter two are described as 'urbanised' CX bikes, complete with rack and guard mounts and are targeted at the commuter, tourer or utility rider who wants a capable bike for all terrains and wishes both speed and comfort. With a relaxed geometry, the build is not typical of a cyclo cross build, instead borrowing ideas from the mountain bike line.

All three are disc equipped. At £1,299 for the Saxon, £999 for the Tiagra Charing Cross and £799 for the Sora equipped Kings Cross, ATB will soon have stock of these, among a number of other new builds, including a 20c carbon hardtail.
