The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is promoted as "largest mountain bike destination in the world" and is "synonymous with extreme, lift-accessed riding." Suppliers like to sponsor the park to be associated with these claims. They also like to supply products for the resort's rental fleet because bikes and P&A that can withstand WMBP abuse can survive just about anything...

WTB joins Race Face, Oakley and Kona as an official supplier to Whistler MTB park

WTB’s ‘Official Supplier’ status with the WMBP has been extended for two years.

Rob McSkimming, Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s MD, said:

"The Park is thrilled to be working with WTB for the next two years. We are more than confident that WTB’s tyres and saddles are perfect products for the daily pounding our equipment takes. This will be especially important this year as we add another 2200 vertical feet of riding with our Garbanzo Expansion."

The parks fleet of DH rental bikes will continue to feature the WTB’s Power V DH saddle.

"With a bullet proof Black Diamond cover and oversized 8mm cromoly rails the Power V saddles held up without failure, or even noticeable wear, during the 2003 season," said the fantastically-named McSkimming.

WMBP bikes will now be shod with WTB’s new Timberwolf 2.5 DH tyres instead of WTB’s Weirwolf tyres.

"With each rental estimated to have 1 million vertical feet of hard-charging use, WMBP proves our products live up to the hype," said a statement from WTB, the independently-owned company based in Mill Valley, California.
