Campagnolo has unveiled a raft of new components for the triathlon and time trial markets.
That launch includes bar-end EPS controls and EPS brake controls, coming six months after the Super Record 11s and Record 11s electronic systems. Campagnolo has also launched new Bora Ultra and Bullet Ultra streamlined cranksets.
Created with the aid of top triathletes and time trial specialists, the brand said it had applied exclusive technologies – including CULT, the manufacturing process for unidirectional carbon fibre – to the new range.
The bar-end EPS controls (98g for both) feature a multi-shifting system with the ability to shift up or down uninterrupted by up to 11 sprockets. They also make use of Multi-Dome Tech, providing a tactile click feeling designed to minimise shifting mistakes. The Switch Mode button allows the rider to check battery charge and make fine adjustments to the rear or front derailleur even while riding.
The EPS brake lever shift controls (109g for both) use a quick release system to ease installation and removal of wheels, also allowing opening of the distance between the rim and brake pads. Aerodynamically shaped and with an ergonomic lever profile, shift buttons are separated to minimise those shifting errors.
The Bullet Ultra Crankset (weight 815g) features a full carbon fibre spider, with the shape of the chainring mount designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency as well as boosting the overall stiffness of the crankset. XPSS is touted as an exclusive design of eight up-shift zones and two down-shift zones of the chainring, with profiled teeth and zones dedicated to upward and downward chain movement for fast and precise shifting.
Finally, the Bora Ultra Crankset (795g) features XPSS and CULT tech (see above) but also boasts titanium axle and screws with left-handed thread, reducing the overall weight of the crankset by 40 grams. Ultra-Hollow Tech hollow cranks and spider also shave weight off (and maximise weight to stiffness ratio).
