Cavendish up for BBC SPOTY prize

Mark Cavendish has been shortlisted as one of the athletes with potential to scoop this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Cavendish has likely been highlighted in recognition of his six stunning stage wins at the Tour De France, as well as his performance in the Milan-San Remo Classic earlier in the year.

According to this betting website, Cavendish is 81/1 to take the prize.

Olympic gold rush athlete Chris Hoy took last year’s award. The winner of the competition will be decided by a public vote on Sunday 13 December.

Tune into BBC one at 7pm on December 13th for the Sports Personaility of the Year Awards ceremony.
