City council supports IBDs over Canadian bike surtax

Saskatoon city council has passed a resolution to write to the federal government, opposing the Canadian International Trade Tribunal’s recommendation to impose a 30 percent surtax on imported bicycles.

A group of ten bike shops in the city had urged councillors to let the government know that the tax would hurt consumers and local businesses. Council passed the resolution at its November 28 meeting.
