Campaign group creates a multi-event festival of cycling

Campaign group Camcycle is organising a Cambridge Festival of Cycling, a multi-event celebration of cycling to run throughout the month of September. There are 20 diverse events to appeal to all types of people interested in cycling. The festival is a celebration of the city’s unique cycling culture.

The flagship event will be a cargo bike event, the Cargo Carnival. This will be a parade of cargo bikes to showcase the ways cycling can be used to carry people and products in everyday life. Other events include a family cycling event, a screening of the Dutch cycle advocacy film ‘Why We Cycle’ and a social ride. Speakers lined up for the festival include Alec Seaman from World Bicycle Relief and Kat Jungnickel, author of ‘Bikes and Bloomers’.

The festival is being staged in partnership with Cambridge Independent, which will be exploring cycling issues in each of their editions during the festival. The event is also supported by Cambridge City Council and the Greater Cambridge Partnership. The sponsors are Power to the Pedal and Outspoken Cycles.
