Found the job via BikeBiz: “I’m the GT guy in Whistler”

Sam Meegan is a bike guy in bike heaven – he’s the go-to guy for GT bikes at the world-famous Whistler Bike Park in Canada. He got his job with Cycling Sports Group via the BikeBiz.com jobs board.

"I live less than 10 minutes away from the chair lift," Meegan told BikeBiz. "My aim this season is to get 100,000 vertical metres."

He started his Whistler-based wonder job in May, relocating from the UK.

How did he conduct his job search? "Just BikeBiz," he said, "and occasionally I’d check company websites and social feeds, although BikeBiz was fair easier and less time consuming. It was really useful to be able to see all the industry jobs in one place."

Prior to working for Cycling Sports Group, Meegan was a department manager of a Bikehut store. He worked in internal sales for CSG in Poole. And what does he do now that he transferred to become a bikepark-based technical representative and marketing coordinator?

"My main role is to ensure the GT rental fleet – which contains the full range from the custom Fury’s to Aggressor valley bikes – is maintained to the highest level. I work alongside our workshop partners; providing product knowledge sessions, answering technical queries and assisting with hands-on servicing."

And there’s more.

"I also work with our marketing team on some seriously fun events in the mountain and village, anything from Beer Yoga to womens’ riding camps."

Meegan will also be in town when the Crankworx WorldTour MTB festival lands in August.
