Olympic gold medalist Geraint Thomas has been announced as the man to officially open this year’s Cycle Show, to be held at the NEC and kicking off on September 29th.
Once again, the opening day will be dedicated to the cycling trade and media. The main consumer show will open to the public between September 30th and October 2nd.
Andrew Brabazon, event director for show organisers, Upper Street Events commented: "It’s really exciting to have Geraint on board this year – not only will the London 2012 Hopeful be making an appearance on the trade day, we also have lots planned in the build up to the show, including ask the expert Q&A sessions on our social media sites and some fantastic money-can’t-buy prizes for the public.
“Registration for the trade day is completely free and will offer the opportunity to visit hundreds of stands from all the major bike companies, niche and specialist brands, as well as cycling holidays.”
Moving to its new NEC location to accommodate the ever growing number of exhibitors and visitors, this year’s show will feature two outdoor demo tracks for those wanting to test the bikes on display; a 1km mountain bike track, sponsored by Dare 2b, and a 600m road bike track.
Thomas commented: “The Cycle Show is a key event in the UK’s cycling calendar, and this year looks set to be the best one yet – I can’t wait to be a part of it as it moves to a brand new location at the NEC.
