Stations being adopted by local authorities, universities and bike shops

Grease Monkey Cycles launches convenient Bike Repair Stations

Following a strong showing at Eurobike’s Scottish Pavilion, Grease Monkey Cycles is looking for distribution channels for its Bicycle Repair Station.

The free standing bicycle station offers 24/7 bike care for cyclists with tools and QR links to ‘how to’ videos that demonstrate how to carry out common repairs. The tools are securely fixed using high tensile stainless steal cable, which does not rust and the body of the Grease Monkey Cycles repair station is galvanised and powder coated.

The Repair Station is already proving popular, being used by universities, businesses, schools and local authorities throughout the UK. Each station can be personalised with branding laser cut onto stainless steel plates.

The firm said: "There has been much interest from bike shops, guiding companies, rental companies and even tourism authorities, who are all keen to show their support to cyclists out with normal opening hours."

MD David Wray told BikeBiz: "At Eurobike we got lots of attention from bike shops and distributors, which was a bit of a surprise.

"For bike shops that have it outside it avoids the whole "can I borrow your pump" discussion that can lead to "can I borrow a tool, an apron’…"

"There are lots of applications and it’s good PR for councils that are becoming aware of the cyclist vote and businesses who want to be seen as ‘green’. We’ve even spoken with the Croation Tourist Board who’ve shown an interest. It’s all about convenient bike repair."

Grease Monkey Cycles is now seeking distribution channels within the UK in the form of either distributors or agents. Interested parties are invited to chat with the firm directly on 0845 180 1251.

The Grease Monkey Cycles Repair Station appeared at Eurobike 2015 thanks to Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland, Scottish Cycling and Scottish Development International who hosted it on the Scotland pavilion.
