Homebase has reportedly put an obstacle in Wiggle’s plans to roll out its service centre concession stands by calling time on the programme.

Wiggle’s service and advice centres - which also doubled up as a collection point for click and collect purchases - launched inside the St Albans branch of Homebase and then in Milton Keynes and Cambridge. But according to a Retail Week article, Homebase is closing all concessions in its stores that are ‘non core’.

The site says Wiggle expressed “massive regret” at the closures “…due to circumstances beyond our control”.

However Homebase is far from Wiggle’s only route to offering click and collect and advice centres. Earlier this year the online retailer announced a deal with the Doddle network - 35 stores near railway stations and commuter hubs in the UK open seven days a week - where customers can pick up orders, return items and try on items in changing rooms.

Last year Wiggle started working with Goodman business parks, running Wiggle Works service centres on selected days of the week.

It's not just Wiggle that sees the value in servicing and click and collect, with Decathlon reportedly opening concessions inside Asda stores.
