I want to transform Britain into a cycling nation, says car boss

Jaguar Cars MD appointed to board of British Cycling.

Jonathan Browning, MD of Jaguar Cars, has been appointed as a non-executive director on the board of British Cycling. The post is for a three-year term, effective from 1st April.

Browning is a former president and chief executive of Volkswagen Group of America. He is a keen cyclist.

A statement from British Cycling said his "wide-ranging experience of delivering significant revenue growth as well as his ability to lead on large-scale marketing strategies will be fundamental to the board’s work in steering British Cycling towards increased sustainability."

British Cycling president Bob Howden said:

“I am delighted to have Jonathan Browning join our board. He is not only a highly experienced business leader with significant commercial expertise but is also extremely passionate about cycling.


“I am confident that his solid expertise will help ensure the growth of our fantastic sport and our ability to ensure that we maximise the opportunities that the increasing popularity of cycling brings.” 

Browning said:

“This is an exciting role that combines my experience of leading commercial and marketing strategies with my passion for cycling. I am also interested to contribute to the sports governing body’s work to help transform Britain into a true cycling nation.”
