Gruppo Media Limited, the company now behind Rouleur and Privateer after the MBO earlier this month, has appointed a new commercial manager for Privateer Magazine – Ross Tricker.

Tricker's cycle industry career started at Elmy Cycles in Ipswich, where he still rides for the shop team. As a freelance journalist he has contributed features and product reviews for MBR and MBUK, as well as writing a regular column in Dirt. Tricker will assume responsibility for advertising sales and wholesale accounts with IBDs, beginning work on Privateer Issue 16 (on newsstands July 19th).

He said: “During my teens I served my cycle trade apprenticeship in the local bike shop whilst chasing the dream of being a pro rider. I had DH/4X factory rides with Kona and DMR in the first half of the 2000's, whilst gaining notoriety in Dirt and MBUK as a dirt jumper and general nuisance. I also spent this time freelancing for various magazines to fund my desire to travel.

"The need to pay bills led me into the print trade and more recently civil engineering. Throughout which time I have continued to ride bikes. BMX, MTB, cyclocross and road. Anything on two wheels. I've raced for 21 years; It's in my blood.

"I'm very much looking forward to joining a team who share the great passion I have for bikes.”

Andy Waterman, editor of Privateer, added: "We're hugely excited to have Ross join the team, back in the world of mountain biking where he belongs. With his unfettered enthusiasm and history in the sport, Privateer will be more visible at events, with the industry and with readers. The magazine is going from strength to strength, with Ross on board we are confident that trend will continue."

Ross Tricker can be contacted at rosstricker@privateer.cc.

Privateer is Rouleur’s sister mountain bike publication and was launched two years ago, it is currently in its 14th edition, edited by Tym Manley and Andy Waterman.
