VELOBerlin consumer event gains momentum

Scott and Giant sign up to new Berlin cycle show

The global cycle trade has got behind the recently announced VELOBerlin consumer event.

Giant, Scott, Abus, Bohle, riese und müller and local representatives of Dahon and Bionx have signed up to the new show, which runs from March 26th to March 27th 2011.

VELOBerlin is being run by Messe Friedrichshafen, the organiser behind Eurobike. A trade conference, entitles Metromobile, will take place immediately before the event on March 25th, covering ‘people and mobility in urban areas’.

“We need a clear flagship among the public exhibitions during the spring in the bicycle industry,” said Giant’s Oliver Hensche. “Until now, there has only been a fragmented landscape with many regional public exhibitions. In place of this, we need a central exhibition in the spring that is strong enough to draw attention throughout Germany. I believe that Messe Friedrichshafen in Berlin has the potential to establish such a leading exhibition.”

Scott Sports’ Hans Holzinger added: “Public exhibitions like the new VELOBerlin are very important and desirable for our industry, especially at the start of the new season. I’m interested to see whether VELOBerlin can realise its goal of attaining more than just regional significance. We will definitely support our dealers at the exhibition if they want to present themselves at VELOBerlin.”

Abus’ Christian Rothe said: “We were very enthusiastic about the news that Messe Friedrichshafen is involved in VELOBerlin. Such an exhibition belongs in the capital city. As a major urban area, Berlin is absolutely a hotspot for our security brand, Abus. It’s among the places where our target group is most highly concentrated. That’s why we plan to be on hand at VELOBerlin as an exhibitor. Especially for our product management, it’s very exciting for us to be in contact with the cycling scene there.”
