Northern Ireland based start-up See.Sense has announced three high-level appointments in advance of a new product launch in autumn 2015 and predicted growth for the company.
Technology entrepreneur Dr James G. Doherty has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. JG Doherty is former founder and CEO of global firm Amphion Semiconductor and currently chairs the boards of Cirdan, a medical devices and software company, and Analytics Engines, a data analytics acceleration company.
In addition, Frank Campbell joins the team, former Head of Sales for Planet X bikes and ex-performance director of Cycling Ireland. Campbell has more than 25 years experience in new business development and growth and brings a wealth of innovative marketing and sales expertise.
Finally, Dr Aleksandar Novakovic, a talented data scientist and software engineer is joining the team in October to begin work on a "new, cutting edge R&D project" in collaborative partnership with Dr Adele Marshall at Queens University Belfast.
"See.Sense is differentiated to other cycling accessories companies because we are not just about the aesthetics of how the product looks, but about the technological capability for our products to bring about an enhanced cycling experience," said Philip McAleese, CEO and Co-founder of See.Sense.
"With the addition of Dr Doherty as Chairman of our board, Frank Campbell in Business Development, and Dr Novakovic, we are well positioned to continue with our rapid rate of innovation and embark on our ambitious plans for global growth”.
Founded in April 2013, See.Sense ran a successful crowd-funding campaign in the same year and brought their first product to market. Sales trebled in their second year. Today, they employ ten people and are stocked by more than 50 shops in the UK and Ireland as well as Chain Reaction Cycles. Overseas sales have also boomed for them, they say, and have established distribution channels in Australia, Mexico and Europe. The company also sells direct into more than 50 countries worldwide.
Dr Doherty added: “I was delighted to accept the offer of Chairman because See.Sense is one of the most exciting startup companies around right now, set to capitalise on the enormous growth of the cycling market with their highly innovative products. The outlook is really promising, and I look forward to working with such a professional team and contributing to the advancement of the company.”
