TAITRA, organiser of Taipei Cycle, said the 24th annual staging of its trade show saw 948 exhibiting companies. There were 5637 international visitors, a 9.2 percent increase on 2010.
Visitor numbers from China increased by 37 percent.
Because of the disaster in Japan, some Japanese visitors didn’t attend the show, and German visitors were given Government warnings not to travel to Asia. German insurance companies said they wouldn’t cover those who chose to travel to Taiwan.
Addressing criticism from Bike Europe magazine that the aisles seemed less busy than usual, Andrea Wu (pictured) TAITRA’s press officer, said:
"Taipei Cycle was not slow. There were 25 percent less visitors from Japan and Germany but overall there were more international visitors than last year. The show remains the most important platform for foreign countries getting into the Asian market."
The 2012 Taipei Cycle show will take place March 7-10th. New for 2012 the show will be co-located with three other shows: sporting goods, diving & watersports; and sporting clothing.
