The Labour Party are ‘significantly’ trailing the Conservative Party when it comes to the correct policies on taking the environmental industry forward, according to a study released this week.
The Environmental Industries Commission found that seven per cent of companies asked believe that Labour has the best policies for promoting the growth of the environmental industry. This is compared to 33 per cent backing for Conservative policies and 19 per cent for the Liberal Democrats’ policies.
84 per cent said that the current Government were not doing enough to promote green growth.
Commenting on the survey findings, Adrian Wilkes, EIC chair said: “With recession prevailing Britain’s environmental industry has the potential to be a key engine of growth for the UK economy. Yet, as our survey highlights, environmental companies are unanimous in criticising the Labour government’s failure to turn positive rhetoric onto hard policy support – while expressing cautious support for Conservative policies.”
Signs visible to the public that the Conservatives take green issues seriously are London Mayor, Boris Johnson and party leader David Cameron’s insistance of travelling to work via bike.
