Earlier this year, Landor Links, publisher of a number of public transport trade magazines, organised the Cycle City conference in Birmingham. This hosted one of the official launches for the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Groups’ ‘Get Britain Cycling’ report and attracted 500 delegates. In 2014, Landor is moving Cycle City to Leeds.
The two-day conference will be held in Leeds Town Hall on May 1st and 2nd and is billed as a "meeting point for all practitioners charged with transforming cycle use in UK cities."
Organiser Rory McMullan said:
"The objective is for the people in government, employers, third sector, consultancies, suppliers and public health bodies involved in designing infrastructure and promotion of cycling, to discuss and develop strategies to get more people cycling safely in British cities."
McMullan added that Cycle City is now putting out a call for papers. Suggested themes include converting sports and leisure riders into city cyclists and should the UK Go Dutch, Go Danish or Go German? And, as Yorkshire will be hosting the start of the Tour de France in 2014, McMullan is also hoping there will be a paper on how to convert sports and leisure cyclists into commuter cyclists.
As well as the expo in Leeds Town Hall there will also be a public cycling exhibition in Victoria Square.
