Cycle hire station closures planned for Baroness Thatcher’s funeral

Along with a spate of road closures across London for the funeral of former PM Baroness Thatcher, a number of Barclays Cycle Hire stations will be temporarily out of action.

Next Wednesday, April 17th, the ceremonial funeral will take a significant route across London, from the Palace of Westminster, through Parliament Square, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and finally ending at St Paul’s Cathedral.

16 hire stations will see their service suspended for the day (full list below), which might be knowledge worth knowing if you run a cycle hire business in the areas affected.

Suspended docking stations for Wednesday April 17th:

  • Queen Victoria Street, St Paul’s
  • Bouverie Street, Temple
  • Chancery Lane, Holborn

  • Carey Street, Holborn
  • Milford Lane, Temple
  • Houghton Street, Strand
  • Kingsway Southbound, Strand
  • Kingsway, Covent Garden
  • Wellington Street, Strand
  • Tavistock Street, Covent Garden
  • Southampton Street, Strand
  • William IV Street, Strand
  • Craven Street, Strand
  • Abingdon Green, Great College Street

The record for daily hires in the Barclays Cycle Hire network hit in excess of 45,748 last year.
