Cycletyres.com expands with new acquisitions

French online tyre retailer Cycletyres.com has acquired Spanish online bike shop Kingbarcelona.com.

Kingbarcelona.com is the second acquisition in Spain for Cycletyres, after it acquired CubiertasMTB.com and Portuguese company Cyclopneu.com in March last year.

Kingbarcelona.com was launched in 2006 by a web developer passionate about cycling, in the heart of the natural park of the Collserola North of Barcelona, famous for its mountain bike trails.

It ultimately offered a range of more than 15,000 SKUs including full high end bicycles from high-end brands such as Cannondale, GT and KTM to more than 100,000 customers. Unable to further finance its growth, the site ended up short of liquidities and had to put the site offline and close the Sant Cugat shop late 2017.

founder and CEO of Pumped Charles Boschetto commented: “This acquisition is part of our international growth strategy. Kingbarcelona.com is a great brand and we look forward to serving its customer base with what we have been known for: technical product sheets; expert advice; extensive stock at Internet prices.

“This acquisition also enables us to expand our offering beyond tyres, wheels and bike components, and thus reach a broader audience. We will leverage the significant synergies across our platform in purchasing, logistics and customer service to offer the best experience to Kingbarcelona.com customers. It is a scale changing acquisition for us and brings us closer to break even.”
