Sustrans hopes fundraiser participation will snowball

Cycling Santas are heading to Bristol streets this December

Cycling Santas and riding reindeers will be taking over Bristol’s traffic-free Festival Way on Sunday December 8th, all to raise money for Sustrans.

The sustainable transport charity, one of the most prominent campaigners for cycling, will invite members of the public – whether on bicycles, scooters or shanks’ pony – to the ride which gets underway from 10:30am at the M Shed, Prince’s Wharf.

Participants are strongly encouraged to pick up a Christmas themed outfit and give their bikes a seasonal spruce up with tinsel – there are prizes from Islabikes and Fuze for the best decorated bikes.

"We hope this magical Christmas themed event will encourage families to get outdoors, have some fun and keep active over the winter period," said Kate Jones, national events fundraiser at Sustrans. “All proceeds from this event go directly to Sustrans to help us keep wonderful routes like the Festival Way open.”

Early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
