Cycling UK launches search for Cyclist Café of the Year 2018

The national cycling charity Cycling UK is looking to find the top cafés around the UK that cater to hungry cyclists.

The Cyclist Café of the Year awards, new for 2018, will have four winners, one each for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Cyclists are asked to recommend their favourite in no more than 100 words by 21st September.

Matt Mallinder, membership director at Cycling UK, said: “Cake and cycling is a winning combination, and a well-timed café stop is an essential part of a day out on bikes.

“That’s why we’re excited to launch the Cyclist Café of the Year awards to give a boost to friendly and deserving establishments.

“Cycling UK wants to say thank you to those brilliant cafés out there that provide a place to leave bikes, don’t mind a bit of mud and are ready with a steaming cup of tea for any weary cyclist who wanders in.”

The winners will be selected by an independent panel of expert judges from around the UK, headed up by Cycling UK.

The panel will be choosing based on the public submissions and their own extensive knowledge of what makes a good cycling café.

Judging will take place at the end of September and announced online and at Cycling UK’s Big Bike Celebration in Harrogate on 6th October.

Prizes will then be sent out to the winners, and all shortlisted cafés will receive a window sticker.
