Cycling Weekly goes pink for Giro d’Italia special

Cycling Weekly has replaced its red masthead for the first time in over 50 years to reveal a pink special issue in celebration of the 2018 Giro d’Italia.

The red logo has featured on every weekly issue since 2nd May 1964, the same year that saw the magazine rebrand from Cycling and Mopeds to Cycling. The magazine recently revealed a redesign with a new-look cover to “creatively highlight its authoritative voice in the cycling sector.”

The special issue hits newsstands today and previews the Italian Grand Tour, giving cycling enthusiasts all the race information on the impending event, leading with the two-pronged challenge facing Chris Froome.

Editor of Cycling Weekly Simon Richardson commented: “This is a big move for such an historic brand like Cycling Weekly to depart from its traditional brand colours. As soon as I saw our white logo on the pink background, I instantly knew we had to go for it. The distinctive pink creates a bold look which fits perfectly for this issue, which is the must-have companion for anyone following this year’s Grand Tour races.”

This year also sees the launch of the first Cycling Weekly Awards, with the ceremony taking place on Northumberland Avenue in London on 12th December.

Available in both print and digital, Cycling Weekly is on sale today with a cover price of £2.99.
