The Oz-based news websites has lost two key members of the editorial team. News editor Dr Jeff Jones (the current journo world cycling champion) and tech editor John Stevenson have joined Future Publishing of the UK.

Cyclingnews.com loses staffers to Future

For Stevenson it’s a return home. The Yorkshireman will be based in Bath and will be working for the same company he left in the late 1990s: he was formerly deputy editor of Future’s MBUK magazine.

However he returns to Future as international editor, cycling websites, a newly created role.

Stevenson, pictured, has already started with Future and is soon to complete a temporary move back to the UK from Australia. Once the sites are up and running he plans to return to live in Sydney and oversee the sites from Oz.

Belgium-based Jones will also be moving to Bath but has another two weeks to work out his contract with Cyclingnews.com.

The capture of Stevenson and Jones means that Future will be taking the web seriously. Its cycling websites have rarely contained breaking news stories and have been little more than forums for some time. Stevenson and Jones will be beefing up the news content on the cycling websites and adding many more features too.
