The Smithfield Nocturne – created by Condor and Rapha – starts at 5pm with ‘fun’ races and finishes at 10pm with an elite criterium around the world-famous Smithfield market. Commuters are invited to sign up for the ‘Le Mans’ start folding bike race. London couriers will be fighting it out in the messenger race. Smiths of Smithfield is providing a meat (and veggie!) feast in the hospitality areas.
Face Partnership is currently booking course and programme advertising, and further sponsorship deals. There will be two hospitality areas on either side of the finish line providing views of the race and a riders enclosure with the opportunity to mingle with the stars of the racing. A hospitality ticket costs £100 per head. Members of the bike trade who book six tickets get a 15 per cent discount.
Dahon has signed up as the sponsor of the folding bike race. The winner of the folder race will get a Dahon MuSL folding bike worth £800.
Matt Ward, marketing manager at Fisher Outdoor leisure, said:
“Dahon are really excited to be the sponsor of the inaugural Nocturne race. As the folding market grows more and more people are realising that a folding bike can be portable, light and fast. This event couples Dahon’s ethos with that of urban riding and ensures that the myth of a folding bike being a niche product is dead.”
